Day
22
- Created
to Become Like Christ
Part
of your design is to become something else. God made you to become like
Christ, and if you are not working towards this purpose, your life will
not have complete purpose.
We
were made in God's image, meaning that our souls are immortal. We are
given the ability to think, and we can have relationships with other
people. Being made in God's image does not give you his power, but you
can work towards knowing his values, his attitudes, and his character.
We
are meant to become like Christ, and becoming isn't always easy. We were
designed to be working towards this, and as much as being lazy may sound
nice, we will never truly be fulfilled unless we are working towards
being like Christ.
In
order to become more like Christ, we must cooperate with God. Even when
we don't understand what is going on, we must be ready to do whatever he
asks, often before we even know what to do. We must do what it takes to
grow. We must read the Bible, fellowship with others who are trying to
grow, and be involved in God's work. These are ways God has designed for
us to become like Christ.
We
also need to realize that becoming like Christ takes time. It is
something we must work towards and we will see progress, but we must
also realize that the transforming will never be truly completed in this
life.
For
many, this effort doesn't sound like fun. However, those who are truly
working at becoming Christ-like know that it leads to a fulfilled life.
Thinking
about my purpose:
Know.
I was created to become like Christ.
Remember.
"As the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more
like him and reflect his glory even more." -2 Corinthians 3.18b (NLT)
Think
about it.
Where in my life should I ask God for help to become more like Christ
today?
